maria kallastu is one of the most distinctive singer-songwriters in Estonia today. She is breaking new ground, weaving hi-fi textures steeped in ecstatic pink pop and lo-fi melodies together with her silky R&B vocals. kallastu’s dance music, with its utterly distinctive sound, is infectious even to those living behind the curtain and seemingly inoculated against contemporary digital music.
She grew up immersed in a pool of eclectic music, which has shaped her into an artist who is unafraid to push boundaries, both as a composer and a producer.
maria considers singing and producing her own music equally important to her artistic identity. By bringing these skills together, she expresses herself freely and authentically. She has collaborated with a number of acclaimed artists and producers, including nublu, Kitty Florentine, Karl Killing, Gevin Niglas, boipepperoni, säm and others.
Her debut EP, ‘WHITENOISE’, showcased both her vocal prowess and her skills as a producer, with kallastu serving as the sole producer of the record.
